Norwegian Wood Book Redesign
Individual Project
Illustration, Graphic Design
Norwegian Wood is a novel by Japanese author Haruki Murakami. It tells the story of love, loss, and coming-of-age, following the protagonist Toru Watanabe as he navigates complex relationships and the emotional turmoil of youth. I selected excerpts from the novel and designed a book that visually conveys the emotional depth and atmosphere of the story through thoughtful design elements.
ICON
I divided the story into five chapters, each representing a stage in the protagonist's emotional journey, capturing his growth, struggles, and reflections along the way.
ILLUSTRATION
Each chapter is accompanied by an additional illustration, created in a riso-graph style to enhance the book’s tactile and artistic quality, adding a unique visual layer to the storytelling.
